We are May 14, 2022, live on Kev Adams’ Instagram account. Less than a year later, the NFT-funded Plush film project, supposed to be released this winter, has stalled. It caused the loss of more than one million euros to nearly 700 investors, as revealed by the Mediapart news site. The fault in particular with this teddy-bear…

The man-teddy bear, who calls himself the “anonymous boss” of the project, calls himself “Fabi”. He dangled the spectators that evening of miraculous returns on investment: “Although there is nothing guaranteed, on average, you will make six to seven times what you put in in 24 months. »

“Very nervous, arrogant, strategist”

According to information from Mediapart, “Fabi” is actually called Fabien Tref. He is 44 years old and is a cryptocurrency investor. The businessman who lives in Dubai is a very big poker player. Plush’s bears are also inspired by the logo of the private parties he organized. Before this case, he had already attracted the attention of the Tracfin unit, responsible for the fight against money laundering, by the extent of his cash transfers. The Bercy service had ticked on its winnings of more than 400,000 euros at the Française des jeux.

If Kev Adams has publicly assured that he is not “the brain of any operation or scam”, Fabien Tref is himself the boss of Plush and the sole manager and shareholder of Illuminart, the company involved in this case. Created for the occasion, it was to sell to the general public 50,000 images of the teddy bears who will be the heroes of the film, charged the equivalent of 1,250 euros each.

The involvement of Fabien Tref is initially very secret, although he claims to have himself lost money in this failure. “It was very complicated to know his identity. Initially, he calls himself Fabi. He claimed to be the representative of Illuminart which presents itself as a consortium of private investors,” explains Red Flag – Plush NFT, an anonymous whistleblower who claims to be behind the Mediapart revelations.

But very quickly, some users understand that this “Fabi” is much more than a representative. “In view of the sometimes very dry and insulting answers given, we understood very quickly. Several buyers have been banned from Discord for asking too many annoying questions. And for my part, I have been banned a dozen times”, details the whistleblower, who describes him as “very nervous, arrogant, strategist” in this case: “he likes chess”.

“He’s not a thug either”

Why then did we have to wait almost a year before the revelations of the “case”? “People stayed in his trap for a long time because Fabien speaks very well and knows how to turn people’s heads, in writing but even more so orally”, replies the Internet user who specifies that he did not buy NFT himself. , but have a friend-buyer.

However, there were quite strong alarm signals as soon as one is interested in the character. Still according to Mediapart, Fabien Tref has no experience in the cinema. Luxury watch salesman, diamond investor, manager of a “sexy cleaning ladies” company… The 44-year-old man has multiplied business and a golden lifestyle. When filing the Plush brand, he also declared that he lived year-round in the royal suite of a Dubai palace.

More than associated with Kev Adams, Fabien Tref is also a friend. He also financed, in July 2020, the comedian’s birthday party in a sumptuous villa overlooking the bay of Cannes. The Mask Singer jury had also vouched for the credibility of “Fabi” on Instagram: “I too have the same concerns as those who want to invest. And to know the humans who are behind, I tell you frankly, it reassures thoroughly. »

Fabien Tref also seems to be an acquaintance of Cyril Hanouna. The TPMP host has already confided in his show: “Sulphurous, it’s fine… I know him, he’s not a thug either. (…) For me, there were guys above who said to themselves, we found two pigeons [Kev Adams et Fabien Tref], we will confuse them. Justice, for the moment, has not communicated on the filing of possible complaints or on the opening of an investigation.
