A “WWM” candidate tries to reach a desired telephone joker on Monday evening – without success. How did the glitch come about?

Frances Schoppe-Müller from Wismar wanted to be a candidate for “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” last Monday evening. (also on RTL +) get help from the telephone joker with the 125,000 euro question. Bastian Zadov could not be reached, no matter how hard moderator Günther Jauch (66) and the director tried.

In the case of an alternative number, even the completely perplexed grandmother of the missing telephone joker answered the phone. When the announcement “No connection under this number” finally sounded during the final attempt, Jauch and his candidate gave up. Another joker was consulted, but without being able to help. In the end, the candidate was able to look forward to 64,000 euros after the breakdown. In an interview with the “Bild” newspaper, Zadov revealed the details of the mishap.

“I was with my parents and waited for the call because I can say from experience that I have reception there,” said the lost telephone joker. He suspects that the “extremely bad and often non-existent mobile network” was responsible for the breakdown. His wife sent him a message that his grandmother had just phoned Günther Jauch. He immediately made his way to this, which was “probably too late”. After missing the chance to help the candidate and to speak to Jauch personally, he was very upset and “a little mad at myself”.

That was the crucial “WWM” question

When asked about the admission criteria for a police academy, however, he would have had to guess, said Zadov. He would have been wrong with his answer B. The question “Anyone who wants to start training with the Federal Police needs at least which grades on their last school report? A: Politics: 1, Maths: 2, B: Maths: 2, Sports: 3, C: Sports: 3, German: 4 or D: German: 4, History: 5.” Answer C would have been correct. Frances Schoppe-Müller calmed her joker after the faux pas. “I told him everything is fine,” she told the “Bild”. “I assumed that none of my telephone jokers would know anyway and that I would have gotten out anyway. So I didn’t become a millionaire because of him.”
