According to the German Red Cross, more than 2,700 blood donations are needed every day in Baden-Württemberg and Hesse. There is no artificial alternative to blood. Patients of all ages are dependent on continuous and seamless care as part of therapy. Around a fifth (19 percent) of blood donations help patients who are being treated for cancer, for example.
