The Kyrgyz government has announced that it will develop a road map and create an inter-institutional commission to find a way to get rid of violence in Bishkek.

In recent years, scientists and a group of specialists will search for ways to clean the air not only in the capital city but also in the cities of Osh and Jalal-Abad.

Meanwhile, ecologists noted that last winter, Bishkek residents were forced to breathe dirty air, and warned to solve the problem as soon as possible for the sake of people’s health. At the beginning of the year, the capital city ranked first in the world in terms of air pollution.

On April 25, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Technical Control organized a discussion entitled “Coping with work: practical ways to solve the environmental problem”. The event was supported by the UN Development Program in Kyrgyzstan.

Participated in the meeting Akylbek Japarov He named Bishkek CHP, garbage landfill, private sector baths, wood-heated houses in the new settlement, old cars and low-quality coal as the main causes of the work problem.

“We have approved a road map of actions to combat smog. According to it, we have started working on several proposals. We are working on transferring CHP to 100% blue flame or abandoning it (CHP) at all, switching to renewable sources of energy in the production of electricity. In cooperation with Gazprom Kyrgyzstan, the work of 100% gasification of new settlements has begun. This year, gas will be supplied to 10 new settlements and the village of Novopavlovka, bordering Bishkek. Electric buses and cars are being brought into the country. We are working on creating green horizontal and vertical corridors for cyclists and pedestrians. “One of the main steps of the government is the use of clean energy. Our goal is to improve the reduction of harmful smoke (emissions) released into the air.”

Head of government Japarov He also noted that currently about 30 small hydroelectric power stations are under construction in the country.

He added that efforts are being made to use advanced environmental technologies and methods in enterprises to stop the increase of carbon dioxide in the air.

Japarov He pointed out that Kyrgyzstan needs the help of the international community to fully solve the work problem.

“Bishkek’s smoke problem is just one drop of the global problem. We are open to developing innovative technology to reduce noise together with other countries and international organizations. Within the framework of the project “Improving Air Quality”, the World Bank will strengthen the air quality management system, clean and energy-saving heating of households. , the total amount of 50 million dollars is allocated for greening and irrigation of the city. The 50 million dollars allocated by the Asian Development Bank is aimed at electrification of urban transport and creation of a green corridor in Bishkek. A green corridor will be created on Kiev street, we are going to buy 120 electric buses, infrastructures have started to be built. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is providing assistance in the form of a loan of 25 million euros and a grant of 8 million euros for the renewal of municipal transport.

Since 2017, Movegreen public environmental organization has been checking and monitoring air quality in Bishkek.

In the 2022-2023 heating season, air pollution in Bishkek is 16 times higher than the norm, according to the organization’s annual report.

Movegreen project manager of the organization Azhar Baisalova In recent years, he pointed out that the employment problem has also appeared in the cities of Osh and Jalal-Abad, and named several factors that hinder its solution.

“We have been cooperating with all interdepartmental commissions. Unfortunately, it is a big problem that specialists working in the departments responsible for monitoring air quality and making decisions are frequently changed. Every time they come, they promise that the situation will improve. We serve the interests of the people. We have been working as an organization aimed at protecting and improving environmental safety. In recent years, the environmental protection policy has led to the current situation. However, we support the commissions and plans to deal with the problem, and make our own analysis and results open to the decision-making parties. We will give.”

According to the latest government information, more than 260 thousand people live in about 50 new settlements around Bishkek. 27 of these settlements have been gassed, and this year the work of connecting 10 of them to blue light is underway.

However, it is said that most ordinary people cannot afford to heat the house with gas. The vice-mayor of Bishkek said that because of this, the city government is ready to provide soft loans Jyrgalbek Shamyraliev said.
