The need to strengthen hospitals was emphasized once again by the president of the Federation of Workers in Nursing Institutions (POEDIN), Michalis Giannakos, on the occasion of yesterday’s nightmarish duty at the “Attiko” hospital, where 118 ranches were developed, one of the negatives of its record.

“In order not to see again the unacceptable phenomenon of the corridors of the clinics being full of gurneys and stretchers with hospitalized patients, we need measures. More hospital beds. Hospitals and hospital clinics have been closed in the last decade and now we find them in front of us”, noted Mr. Giannakos.

The president of POEDIN emphasized that they need: “Operation of the closed operating theaters (they are 40% closed) so that the surgeries of hospitalized emergency patients are not delayed for up to a month. Social incidents should not be parked in hospitals in the absence of welfare units”.

He also referred to the hospitalizations of patients with Covid. The patients with coronavirus hospitalized today are 955 in clinics and 41 patients with coronavirus in ICUs. Compared to last month, March, there is no de-escalation in clinics as opposed to ICUs, he said.
