This time, no walkabout: Emmanuel Macron left Vendôme (Loir-et-Cher), Tuesday April 25, without going to meet the population, as he had done in Sélestat (Bas-Rhin), or in Ganges (Hérault), last week. After talking for more than an hour and a half with a group of caregivers, whom he met in a nursing home, the president returned directly to Paris by helicopter, contenting himself with greeting a few onlookers at the edge of a field. .

If the Élysée had not communicated a detailed program for this trip to Vendôme, the Head of State seems to have given up going to meet the people gathered near the nursing home, while insults and boos were heard. from his view. A once again eventful welcome, like that which has been reserved for certain ministers in recent days, and after having himself been heckled in Alsace and Hérault last week.

While they were kept at a safe distance by an important security device, the neighborhood having been cordoned off, several hundred demonstrators invaded a railway line or joined a police roadblock to approach the nursing home. Most of them were equipped with saucepans and other cans or trumpets, the noise of which the president could hear despite the distance. “It’s to wake up our president, so that he stops making fun of us”, testified a retiree, who came with his little bugle, to AFP.

Pans, “not a sign of respect”

Speaking after his interview with caregivers, Emmanuel Macron still had a word for his opponents: “I respect all the anger and all those who express themselves”, he said, according to the regional daily The New Republic. “Covering with your voice, or with utensils, the voices of others” is not “a sign of respect”, he added, however.

The prefecture of Loir-et-Cher had published a decree establishing a perimeter of protection and providing in particular for the prohibition of processions and protest rallies near the health center, as well as “the prohibition of sound devices sound amplifiers”. This decree was based on article L226-1 of the Internal Security Code, the only provision that allows the establishment of a perimeter of protection due to a risk of acts of terrorism.

Seized by several associations, including the League for Human Rights (LDH), the Orleans administrative court suspended the prefectural decree in the afternoon. The court noted “the absence of risk of terrorist threat” and confirmed “the impossibility of using protective perimeters”, indicated the lawyer for the associations, Marion Ogier, to the Parisian.
