Returnees from jihadist conflicts currently represent an important part of the threat posed by this type of terrorism. Trained as foreign terrorist fighters (CTE) within such organizations, the knowledge they acquire makes them fundamental elements within the jihadism strategy to bring terror to the West and attract the greatest number of volunteers possible due to the great moral appeal they present. .
Especially after the loss of the “caliphate” established by Daesh in Syria and Iraq, attacks such as those in Paris in November 2015 or those in Brussels in 2016 have made clear the ability of these individuals to carry out highly lethal terrorist actions. and media impact, which is why it is necessary to adopt the appropriate measures to fight against this jihadist threat vector.
