Could it be the marriage of the carp and the rabbit that the general assembly of the Impact France Movement will be invited to devote on May 24 in Paris? Since the official deposit in March of the list of candidates for the new board of directors of the grouping of the main actors of the Social and Solidarity Economy (ESS), the future co-president Pascal Demurger, current director of the MAIF, is the subject of virulent criticism, suspected of wanting to initiate an ideological shift.

The Impact France Movement? which represents some 15,000 entrepreneurs and managers, is the successor to Mouves, created in 2010 to bring together “impact entrepreneurs”, whose objective is to have a social or environmental impact, or even both on society. Among its historical members are Groupe SOS, founder of the movement, Vitamine T, co-founder, Harmonie Mutuelle, Inco Investissement, among others.

The new two-headed presidency, which officially made itself known at the end of February, does not denote in this context: Julia Faure, co-founder of Loom, an eco-responsible clothing company, will be alongside Pascal Demurger. Both must replace the current double presidency composed of Eva Sadoun, at the head of a citizen investment fund, and Jean Moreau, the co-founder of Phenix, specializing in the fight against food waste.

Isolated reviews

It is not the nature of their activities that has caused a stir, but a questioning of the governance of the movement. On the occasion of the renewal of the management team of the Impact France Movement, out of the 120 candidates for the future board of directors, Pascal Demurger selected for his list companies far removed from the social and solidarity economy such as KPMG France, Doctolib, L’Occitane, Nature et Découverte, four “businesses with a mission”, and the SNCF. While leaving this same council, on their initiative, Label Emmaüs and La Croix Rouge, in particular.

“Everyone – even beyond the movement – was surprised. There has obviously not been the slightest internal debate on the composition of this list. This is what undoubtedly offends certain historical adherents.reacted Christophe Itier in The cross of April 24. The former High Commissioner for the ESS explains, in essence, that large companies outside the ESS do not respect the same rules of governance, such as the limitation of pay gaps between employees from 1 to 10 for very small companies, 1 to 15 within medium-sized companies, and 1 to 20 in large companies.
