Litro gas supply operations resume today.

Litro has announced that it will resume gas supply from today (18).

According to a statement issued by Litro, the move comes after the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) and the Sri Lanka Standards Institution approved the use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in a shipment to the country. Two more gas vessels are anchored near the Kerawalapitiya Litro gas terminal.

Litro said it was seeking approval from the Consumer Affairs Authority and the Sri Lanka Standards Institution for the gas they contained.
With this, it will be possible to start filling and distributing Litro gas across the country, said Janaka Pathirana, Director, Sales and Distribution, Litro Gas.

Jayantha de Silva, secretary of the Ministry of Technology, said yesterday that after inspecting one of the two Litro gas vessels, which were said to be substandard, there was no problem with it and action was taken to release gas from that ship.

He also mentioned that he was appointed by the President the day before yesterday to coordinate the work.
Meanwhile, the ‘Litro Protection Organization’ today lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department regarding the gas issue.

After that, the organization’s secretary Terence Appuhamy told our news service that they had not changed the concentration. Last April, it was changed only on one occasion. Only 1,500 tons were brought in on a 50 to 50 basis. That is, during this period, there is no change in the regulator or the container, but it explodes. We have massive doubts about this.

The ship, which arrived last Friday, received approval from the Consumer Affairs Authority yesterday to distribute it to the public.
“I urge the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to look into the matter,” said Terence Appuhami, secretary of the Litro Defense Agency.
