The Narva Society of Retired Teachers celebrated its 10th anniversary with a festive evening at the Rugodiv Palace of Culture last Thursday.
Now the society consists of 80 people who previously worked in general education schools, as well as in colleges and kindergartens.
The mayor of the city Katri Raik, deputies of the Narva city assembly Natalia Umarova, Alexander Efimov, former deputy Larisa Olenina, deputy director of the city library Tatyana Krivolap and representatives of another society of active pensioners, Nadezhda, came to congratulate the teachers.
A big cake for the anniversary was presented to the teachers by Nikolai Ezhov from the prepared food company Mann Grupp, who himself was a teacher of labor in the past.
The chairman of the society, German teacher Tatyana Tkachenko, said that retired teachers go on trips together, arrange holidays and meetings, quizzes and discussions.
“For example, we had a very lively discussion about Anna Akhmatova, we had different opinions,” Tatyana Tkachenko said. – An interesting evening was dedicated to Dovlatov. The library arranges quizzes for us, in which we compete in teams, and before that we prepare for them.”
The activists of the society gather every two weeks, sum up the results and prepare for new events.
The meetings themselves are often dedicated to some holidays, significant dates. Society believes that age should not be a hindrance to active creative longevity.
Circles worked in the society, which, unfortunately, were closed due to the poor health of the leaders. However, two health groups continue their activities under the leadership of Nadezhda Trofer and Irina Skriplenok. They organize sports events, which include outdoor games, therapeutic exercises and physical education, and prepare demonstration performances. Many members of the Society of Retired Teachers take care of their health through these activities. Sports days and health days are also regularly held in the society.
