Tunisian President Kais Saied appointed Ambassador Mohamed Al-Mahdhabi as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tunisia to Syria, according to what was published by the Tunisian presidency.
In early April, Syria opened its embassy in Tunisia and appointed an ambassador. And this is against the background of Tunisia taking a similar step earlier.
The Syrian News Agency, SANA, stated in a statement, quoting the Syrian Foreign Ministry, that the reopening of the Syrian embassy in Tunisia represents a response to the initiative taken by Tunisian President Kais Saied, who appointed an ambassador for his country to Damascus, and a joint statement between the two countries indicated that the Syrian government announced its approval. Immediately agreed to appoint a Tunisian ambassador, and decided to reopen its embassy in Tunisia and appoint a new ambassador.
