The maximum magnitude reached was 0.4 ML corresponding to the earthquake registered on April 23, located 0.4 km south of the main dome, 3 km deep from the top of the volcano.

Meanwhile, in the Chiles and Cerro Negro volcanic complex, located in Nariño, between April 18 and 24, 2023, the number of earthquakes increased in relation to the two previous weeks, maintaining similar energy levels.
According to the SGC, for now the seismicity associated with rock fracture persists in various sectors of the volcanic edifices; It is also highlighted that the important record of events related to fluid dynamics continues inside.
This week there were five seismic events with magnitudes greater than 2.5, of which those on April 23 at 8:12 pm and April 24 at 00:35 am stand out with magnitudes of 3.1 and 3.2 respectively, which they were reported as felt by nearby inhabitants.

Attentive to the possible changes that may be generated in the coming days, the level of activity in the volcanic complex also remains yellow.
For his part, the Cumbal-Nariño volcanic complex, between April 18 and 24, it presented fluctuations within low levels in seismic activity, with a predominance of earthquakes associated with rock fracture.
Favorable climatic conditions allowed the recording of columns of white gases with variable height and dispersion by the direction of the winds, coming from the El Verde fumarolic field (northeast) and from the Los Rastrojos and Boca Vieja fumarolic fields (southwest of the complex).
No significant variations were observed in the other geophysical and geochemical parameters of the volcanic monitoring. In this case, the activity level remains yellow.
The SGC also detailed that in the Nevado del Ruiz volcano This Wednesday, April 26, a column of gases and/or ash was presented that reached a height of 2,500 meters measured from the top of the volcano corresponding to the emission at 07:48 am, with dispersion direction of the column to the north and northwest.
