The night was tragic for the Ukrainians. During the night from Thursday to Friday, several Russian missiles hit kyiv and several other cities in the country. They landed, among other places, on the sleeping inhabitants of a residential building in Uman. The toll continues to grow this Friday morning: at least 12 people died, ten in Ouman and two in Dnipro. In this large city in central eastern Ukraine, the two victims are a 31-year-old woman and her two-year-old daughter.

In Ouman, firefighters are working tirelessly amid the rubble to find survivors. Three children have already been saved. But the balance sheet is likely to increase over the hours. Last night, Russia sent a rain of missiles: the Ukrainian air force would have shot down 21, as well as two drones, she says. Including eleven missiles just in the sky of kyiv.

No casualties in kyiv

No significant casualties or destruction are to be deplored. A power line was only cut following the fall of a debris which also damaged the roadway, according to the authorities. This miracle, kyiv owes it to its anti-aircraft defense system, reinforced by the delivery of Western equipment. In particular, the country received the sophisticated American Patriot systems in April.

However, this is the first massive missile attack on the Ukrainian capital since early March. While Russia regularly bombed Ukrainian cities and infrastructure last winter, massive strikes had become rarer in recent months.

Last week, the Ukrainian capital was the target of an attack by 12 Iranian-made drones, eight of which were shot down, without causing any casualties.
