The US Special Envoy to Libya, Ambassador Richard Norland, confirmed that the United States and the Republic of the Congo strongly support the efforts of the United Nations and the African Union to bring together Libyan leaders in order to hold early elections to unify the country.
The US Embassy to Libya said in a tweet on its Twitter account that Ambassador Norland informed President Denis Sassou Nguesso and Foreign Minister Gakoso of his appreciation for their leadership in supporting the National Forum for Libyan Reconciliation.
It was also agreed on the urgent need to accelerate the stabilization of Libya, restore its sovereignty and secure its borders in light of the growing threats to the security of the region.
