Tender for the works of the platform for the South Access of the railway integration in Palencia

The new 2.2-kilometre section will connect the city on a high-speed double track on the south side

Adif Alta Velocidad has tendered, for 73.6 million euros, the construction works contract for the railway integration platform in the city of Palencia, in its South Access section (phase II).

The new section, with a length of 2.2 kilometers, will allow double track access to the city of Palencia from the south through the Valladolid-Palencia-León high-speed line, giving continuity to the double track already built in phase I. With this action, in addition, the capacity of the network will be improved.

Among the works that will be carried out in this action, the replacement of the conventional tracks coming from Venta de Baños and Magaz is included, in order to create the necessary space for the new high-speed corridor on the left bank of the Railway Arterial Network .

The project also includes unique actions such as a single-span integral bridge for the passage of the high-speed line under the A-67 motorway, 37.5 meters long and 17.6 meters wide; a 114-meter pergola for the crossing of the high-speed line over the conventional line coming from Venta de Baños; four overpasses for replacement of roads and easements; and the replacement of the Palencia channel and the Portazgo drainage.

Integration of the railway in Palencia

The Ministry, Adif, Adif AV, the Junta de Castilla y León and the Palencia City Council, within the framework of the Palencia Alta Velocidad company, are working on a solution to integrate the railway in the city, combined with the increase in railway capacity .

The Informative Study of the Integration of the Railroad in Palencia approved will be developed in several contracts. Added to the one corresponding to the South Access, is the basic and construction project for the North Access-Grijota platform, which, in turn, has been divided into two actions: the two-kilometre platform project at kilometer point 232.1 to Grijota, in the drafting phase; and the North Access project, kilometer point 232.1, with a platform kilometer. Its wording is conditioned to the functional solution of the Palencia station and its accesses.
