“Abject acts”: Amélie Oudéa-Castéra denounces racism and violence after OL-OM

Just over a year from the Paris 2024 Games, the government is showing a certain firmness when it comes to incidents during sports matches. After the serious incidents that occurred on Sunday evening after the meeting between Lyon and Marseille, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, the Minister of Sports, recalled that certain rules in a tweet.

“These despicable actions have no place in our stadiums, nor around them. The government is more than ever mobilized to fight them: the law on the JOP (Olympic and Paralympic Games) provides that their authors are now subject to a systematic judicial ban on stadiums. Tolerance 0.” writes the Minister who reacted to a message from Isabelle Rome.

The Minister Delegate for Equality between Women and Men had notably posted an unequivocal message: “This outburst of racist violence is intolerable. Sporting bodies must act firmly to banish these behaviours. I asked the DILCRAH (Interministerial Delegation for the Fight Against Racism, Anti-Semitism and Anti-LGBT Hate) to participate in the work of the national support body of the Ministry of Sports. »

As a reminder, OL and OM supporters came to blows during violent altercations on the forecourt of the Lyon enclosure. Racist slurs were also uttered. Results of these scuffles: two wounded and two arrests.
