Three bands will play at the “Kraftverkehr” event location on June 10th. Heavy metal festival organizers are also hoping for a new look at talent via Bandbüro.
A warm-up show of the Wacken Open Air will take place in Chemnitz this year: On June 10th in the “Kraftverkehr” event location, alongside the Ruhrpott thrashers Sodom, Norsegod from Chemnitz and Divide (Wacken Foundation band and winner Germany Metal Battle 22) will play, and the DJ collective Hamburg Ballroom will also be announced.
According to the organizers, the cooperation came about as follows: the motor transport operators in Germany are drumming for the still young Chemnitz event location and the city’s music scene; When visiting the Wacken Open Air last year, the motor transport makers and festival organizers got to know and appreciate each other and agreed to work together. Heavy metal, the organizers add, already played a role in the hall: when buses weighing several tons were still being repaired here. The festival organizers would also hope for a new look at new talents through the cooperation with the Bandbüro Chemnitz.
Wacken, which lasts several days, is considered the largest heavy metal festival in the world with tens of thousands of visitors and has made the village of the same name in northern Germany famous. This year’s Wacken Open Air takes place from August 2nd to 5th and is already sold out, not least because Iron Maiden is expected. There have already been warm-up shows across Germany, including in Hamburg, Munich and Cologne.
