The consular elected officials of the 2020-2025 mandate of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Benin met this Friday, April 28, 2023 in ordinary session for the year 2023. He is the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry and of commerce who presided over the opening ceremony, in the presence of the president of CCI-Benin, Arnauld Akakpo. This first session of the consular assembly is devoted to the examination and adoption of the financial statements for the years ended December 31, 2022 and the presentation of the 2022 activity report.

During the opening ceremony, the president of the consular institution, Arnauld Akakpo welcomed the presence of all the participants and expressed his deep gratitude to the Minister of Industry and Trade for his constant support to the CCI- Benign. He then underlined to the consular elected officials that “the challenges awaiting us are numerous and business leaders would like to count on us to support them in this context still marked by the economic slowdown”. According to him, their mandate is to “make good administrative and financial governance a sacrosanct principle and not a slogan in order to give credibility to the consular institution vis-à-vis the State and the various institutional partners”. Launching the work of this session, the Secretary General of the Minister of Industry and Trade, Amzat Salami, stressed to the members of the consular office that “this ordinary session which is being held in a period of slow economic recovery should not distance them from the objectives set for them by the government and from their involvement in achieving the PAG 2021-2026”.

The representative of the Minister Alimatou Shadiya Assouman, greeted and congratulated the consular elected officials for having respected the deadlines prescribed for the organization of the various meetings of the governing bodies of the consular institution. He was also delighted with the smooth running of the actions of the strategic development plan of CCI-Benin. The SG however urged the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Benin, Arnauld Akakpo and his team to stay the course for the improvement of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

It should be noted that the CCI Benin aims to build a stronger, resilient and diversified business community, driving economic development by 2025.
