TTechnical problems temporarily paralyzed Commerzbank’s online banking on Friday. “Online and mobile banking are currently not available,” said the money house in the afternoon via Twitter. “We apologize for that. We are working flat out on a solution.” The online brand Comdirect was not affected by the disruption, said a Commerzbank spokeswoman in Frankfurt.
The next tweet followed over an hour later, explaining that the services were now available again. As early as 10 a.m., there were hundreds of complaints from customers on websites that document IT disruptions.
The bank initially did not comment on possible causes. Commerzbank and Comdirect together have eleven million private and business customers in Germany, almost eight million of them with Commerzbank.
