New anesthesia machines strengthen the operating room of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital in Cuenca – Ministry of Public Health

This Friday, April 27, José Ruales, Minister of Public Health, fulfilled a territorial agenda in the province of Azuay. He visited the cantons of Cuenca and Nabón, together with authorities and work teams from the national, zonal and local levels.

Ruales participated as a representative of the social front in the event “100 thousand floors to play”, organized by the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing (MIDUVI) in the Nabón canton.

He continued with the visit to the “Type C” Nabón Health Center, where together with health professionals, he verified the stock of biologicals for the 2023 Vaccination Campaign against measles, rubella and poliomyelitis, which begins this May 2 until May 9. of July.

Then, the health authority went to the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital (HVCM) in the city of Cuenca, where they visited the imaging service that has a 1.5-tesla magnetic resonator. This endowment represents an investment of 1.2 million dollars and is part of the non-reimbursable credit granted by the Government of Italy to the Government of Ecuador.

He also verified the operation of the clinical laboratory with renewed equipment that allows greater agility in the results of examinations, timely diagnosis and adequate treatment. For the year 2023, there is a budget of 1.9 million dollars for the acquisition of inputs.

He also participated in the delivery of equipment for the operating room service, including an anesthesia machine valued at $41,000 and a harmonic scalpel with an investment of $45,000, both purchased by the HVCM. In another operating room there is also a new anesthesia machine thanks to a donation from the Italo Ecuadorian Fund for Sustainable Development (FIEDS).

Finally, Minister Ruales held a working meeting with the directors of Zonal Coordination 6 – Health to strengthen strategies that benefit the health care of the population. “It is vitally important to continue strengthening health services, through equipment, supply of medicines and supplies, and hiring human talent.
