It was one of the most anticipated returns to date and Enea Bastianini has been reunited with his motorcycle. The Ducati rider suffered on the Desmosedici GP23, especially when going through curves where he could not bear the weight of the bike leaning. Now “the beast” will have to evaluate all the alternatives and decide whether to continue competing in the Spanish Grand Prix, where it has remained 8 tenths of the step to Q2.

At the end of the free practice day, Enea Bastianini attended to GPone and he affirmed that his physical condition is conditioning him the weekend and for this reason, it can prevent him from competing in the Grand Prix: “Tomorrow morning we will have to see what my conditions are, if I am like today, or even a little better, then I will be able to continue. Otherwise, I’ll have to decide, I’m here to score some points and if it is not possible, it would have to stop”.

The official Ducati team rider highlighted that his problem is especially when cornering, so he will have to take medication to avoid further problems with his riding: “if the bike moves a little the shoulder has no strength. Right now I am in my 60% shape. Today I have not taken any painkiller, only pills, tomorrow I will need something stronger”.

“The sensations are similar to those I had on Monday in Misano on the Panigale”, commented the Italian, who assured that he is happy to get back on the bike, but he is concerned about the little strength he has in his shoulder: “I’m happy to be back on my Ducati, it’s been a good day, albeit with a lot of pain. I’m not in a good situation, my shoulder has no strength and it’s hard for me to do a lot of laps and be fast”

Looking ahead to the rest of the weekend, the man from Rimini is clear about it and assures that he must be aware of his limitations and think about achieving his full recovery for the next appointments: “It’s hard to say, I would like to continue all weekend, but I also have to be realistic. After 6 or 7 laps I am very tired and it will be difficult to think about finishing the race on sunday. Also, I will have to understand if the sprint race is also worth it, because only the first 9 score points and that is my goal”.

Pecco Bagnaia’s teammate has been clear and has highlighted that he is not in top physical shape, especially the clear example is when doing his fastest lap, where he risked more than necessary to be in 21st place more than of a second from Aleix Espargaró: “I expected that (to be better), but in the end I am in similar conditions to those of last Monday. The plan is to do the morning session and then I decide. Today for the fastest lap I pushed even more to set a time, but I can’t be happy”.

Finally, #23 is clear about it and until now it is only being tested to be fully fit for the Italian Grand Prix, where it hopes to be fighting for victory: “In the last few days I have improved a bit, the path is the right one. I’m not saying I’ll be fully fit at Le Mans, but I’ll probably be capable as well and I’ll be in for the race on Sunday. My goal is to be 100% in Mugelloconcluded Enea Bastianini.
