Crisis stricken Sri Lanka – Research on re-borrowing

by time news

The Sri Lankan government is focusing on borrowing from three foreign countries as a solution to the problem of the US dollar shortage in the country.

The Sri Lankan government has focused on obtaining such loans from China, Japan and Russia.

It was announced at a cabinet meeting last week that talks on the issue had already begun.

The Finance Minister had announced at the last Cabinet meeting that India had agreed to provide a loan of $ 1,400 million.

Sri Lanka’s severe dollar shortage has created a crisis over the country’s imports of essential commodities, including fuel.

Due to this the government in friendly countries is engaged in activities related to obtaining loans.

In the meantime, Sri Lanka has to pay the installments and interest on the loan obtained from abroad by January 18.

It is noteworthy that economists estimate that this will require millions of dollars.
