More than 6,000 signatures on the portal “Manabalss.lv” and almost a thousand submissions to the municipality. So many residents oppose the waste processing plant planned by the “Environmental Resources Center” company in Dreilinius, Ropaži county. The plant is planned to produce heat and electricity by burning almost half of the waste produced in Latvia.
It is planned that a cogeneration plant could start operating on the border of Riga and Ropaži counties already in three years, which will produce heat and electricity by burning waste that cannot be used for processing. The initial discussion of the project took place quietly during the covid, so the residents of the village of Saulīši, who are closest to the planned waste incinerator, have learned about it only now, but are not ready to accept such a plan.
