Couple died buried by avalanche on the Medellín-Quibdó highway

To the morgue of the San Francisco de Asís hospital, in Quibdó, the bodies were transferred the couple who died buried by a landslide on the road between Medellín and the departmental capital of Chocó, during the night of this Saturday.

The collapse occurred in the sector known as Alto del 20, close to the municipality of Carmen de Atrato, after a heavy downpour that fell in the area and destabilized the land near the highway, large amounts of dirt falling on various vehicles that were passing through this area.

As reported by the Quibdó Official Fire Department through its website, the two deceased people were a couple and were on board a motorcycle. Five fire units, the Civil Defense and with the support of the indigenous guard and other neighbors participated in the rescue. In addition, the organizations in charge of risk management were present.

On the same Saturday night, a woman was rescued to whom the firefighters identified as Senia Córdoba, but the operation was tortuous because of the darkness and the rain forced the rescuers to postpone their efforts until daylight. Subsequently, around 11:00 am this Sunday and after removing huge amounts of mud, They found the body of Darío Navas, the husband of the first victim mentioned in the incident.

During the afternoon, this same day the highway was restored through a lane.
