It was no longer a secret since last January, when Canal + anticipated the news. This Monday, L’Equipe confirms it: Morgan Parra will leave his place on the lawn at the end of the current season. His last adventure as a player will therefore end under the colors of Stade Français, which the scrum half with 71 selections for the Blues joined last year.

A rugby page will therefore close in a few weeks for the one who has spent a large part of his career (2009-2022) in Clermont. Another will open in stride, since the interested party signed a three-season contract as assistant coach of Stade Français alongside future managers, Laurent Labit and Karim Ghezal, from the start of the next school year.

This decision was not so difficult to make for Morgan Parra as it was to take: “The older you get, the more difficult the training sessions, the matches too, he says in an interview with L’Equipe. Mentally too, it wears out. The sacrifices are many (…) I had prepared myself. If it wasn’t this year, it would have been the next. You have to know how to say stop! I didn’t want to live the year too many, the difficult year, the year when you no longer have fun. I had always told myself that I would stop in 2022, at the end of my contract in Clermont. Maybe subconsciously it helped me make my decision easier. I was ready. I tell myself it’s the right time. »

The double champion of France (2010 and 2017) draws up a lucid observation of his career: “I had the chance to live from my passion and to experience strong emotions. Lots of kids dream of this life and few achieve it. I am privileged. »

The rest will now be played on the side of the lawn, where he can pass on his knowledge: “This new adventure in the staff of Laurent (Labit) and Karim (Ghezal) also comes at the right time. Might as well start at the same time as them. Afterwards, am I made for this? Either way, I’m tempted! I’ve always liked that. I coached amateur teams around Clermont for years. (…) I want to bring my experience, but also to learn. »

The native of Metz, under contract as a player with the French stadium until 2024, has played fifteen matches this season, in all competitions, including thirteen as a starter.
