The Gujarat Police arrested an official of the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and the chairman of the Gujarat International Finance Tech City (Gift City) for allegedly raping and employing a model.
According to ANI News, the accused thug Viraj Patel was arrested on Sunday. The real identity of the man came to light when he was brought to the Vadodara police station after an altercation with someone, police officials said.
According to Satya Hindi, police officials said that the man was brought to the police station along with the model on Friday night after he had a fight with someone at the multiplex. The accused initially told the police that he was an officer in the CMO, who had come to watch a movie with the woman. He also claimed to be the president of Gift City. When the police checked his identity, it was found that he had used a different surname on his PAN card, while there was no surname on his Aadhaar card. When questioned sternly, Patel revealed that he was neither working as a CMO nor chairman of Gift City.
After her real identity was revealed, the Mumbai-based model who was accompanying her claimed that he raped her on the pretext of offering her a job as a brand ambassador for Gift City, the police officer said. and promised to marry her.
The ACP said that preliminary investigation has revealed that he is a resident of Gandhinagar. Further investigation of the case has been handed over to the City Crime Branch.
The police officer said that a case has been registered against the accused under Indian Penal Code Sections 170 (pretending to hold a particular position), 417 (cheating), 467 (forgery) and 376 (rape).
