The Federal Court decided to block Telegram in Brazil. The decision responds to a request from the Federal Police in the context of investigations into attacks on schools.
A daily fine of R$1 million has also been imposed if the platform does not comply with a prior order to provide data to the authorities in charge of investigations.
Telegram has ignored the requests of the Justice to take measures to combat content that incites violence and threats to educational centers.
On Friday (21), the application delivered to the PF the data required by the Justice on neo-Nazi groups. The platform was forced to deliver the information after discovering, in the framework of the investigation of the attack on two schools in Aracruz (ES), that the person responsible for the attack, aged 16, participated in groups that shared anti-Semitic content.
