Timber traceability: An Indian firm obtains a contract worth several billion francs in Gabon

DIG/ Indian software and IT consulting company, CSM Tech, has just signed with the Gabonese government a multi-billion franc contract for end-to-end digitization and tracking administrative and technical activities of forestry and commercial operations.

The agreement was signed by Nicole Jeanine Lydie Roboty Mbou, Minister of Economy and Recovery, and Priyadarshi Nanu Pany, Founder and CEO of CSM Tech.

According to CSM Tech’s explanations, the digital platform will be designed to make predictions on the provenance of wood for 20 years.

She aims transparency of transactions, eradication of illegal logging and ensuring environmental sustainability by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

“I am delighted to take this opportunity and develop this unique and transparent digital solution for the Gabonese government. This traceability platform will set new benchmarks in transparent and sustainable timber trading. It will open access to world markets for finished wood products from Gabon.

In addition, it will facilitate timber trade for domestic and export markets while strengthening government oversight over log movements and transactions.

This historic project agreement will also open up digital business opportunities in West Africa and French-speaking countries. “said the Indian businessman.
