The Civil Police are investigating the death of a 9-year-old boy, hit by a swing while playing with friends in a square in Angra dos Reis, Costa Verde do Rio, on Saturday afternoon (29).
Witnesses said that a piece of the toy adapted for people with disabilities came off and injured the child, who died instantly.
The swing would have been installed about two years ago when the accident happened. Residents reported that the toy already had problems.
The City Hall of Angra dos Reis informed that the Civil Defense did not find failure or damage in the balance structure that could have contributed to the accident.
Also according to the municipal administration, the toy was removed from the Campo Belo square to the Civil Defense base and remains at the disposal of the authorities, in case it is necessary to carry out additional expertise.
City Hall regretted what happened and said it is providing necessary support to the family of Marcus Vinícius da Silva Melo Júnior.
The case was registered at the 166th DP (Angra dos Reis), which searches for images from security cameras and hears witnesses to clarify the facts.
