It is a banana which is expensive or rather which was worth expensive. A South Korean student ate a banana that was worth 120,000 dollars, or about 110,000 euros, according to a video published last week on the networks.
Exhibited in a museum in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, it was the work of the Italian Maurizio Cattelan. Taped to a wall, it was called “Comedian”.
A video taken by a friend of the student and relayed by the local channel KBS news shows the perpetrator taking the fruit off the wall to eat it. Once the tasting is over, he sticks the skin back on the wall.
“Damaging a modern work of art could also be interpreted as being a work of art,” he said in comments relayed by the Guardian. He also said he was “hungry”. As for Maurizio Cattelan, he would have declared that the act of this young man “is not a problem”.
For the sustainability of the work, the banana would be changed every two days. In 2019, in Miami (Florida, United States) a Cattelan banana was also eaten by a visitor to an exhibition.
