- Senate approves reforms to articles 38 and 102

“Never again will a sexual offender, harasser or harasser be able to be a popular representative,” Senator Eduardo Ramírez declared after the approval of the reform to articles 38 and 102 of the Mexican Constitution regarding the suspension of rights to hold office, employment or commission of the public service.

Eduardo Ramírez explained that with this reform the rights and prerogatives of delinquent food debtors, harassers or aggressors to participate in a popularly elected position are suspended, as well as to have a job, position or commission in the public service.
This issue becomes relevant, because it originates from civil society, its essence is found in the feminist groups that day by day fight and raise their voices so that women can live free of violence, affirmed the Morenista legislator accompanied by the Mexican activist Yndira Sandoval, promoter of the initiative.
“I am glad to be able to comply with the women of Mexico with this measure that undoubtedly strengthens the legal framework of protection in women’s access to a life free of violence,” said Eduardo Ramírez, from Chiapas.
It should be noted that in Mexico there is a high degree of violence against women, only in the year 2022 a total of 122 thousand 11 women were victims of some crime, 73 percent reported having suffered some type of injury and 67 thousand 315 women were victims of intentional injuries.
