Rotterdam police reported another explosion adding to the wake that has long been hitting the city, says NOS. This time an explosive went off in a house in Hellevoetsluiswhich is more than 30 kilometers from the city but is part of the area under the jurisdiction of the Rotterdam Region Police Force.
The explosion in the house happened around 4:15 am, when the front door of the house was damaged. No injuries. The perpetrator(s) are at large and it is not yet known whether the explosion is related to previous explosions in Rotterdam at homes and business premises. This year, the toll has already exceeded 50 attacks, more than in all of 2022.

The explosions in the city are the result of feuding between rival drug gangs and according to Mayor Aboutaleb, the increase has to do with the stricter approach to drug-related crime in Rotterdam’s ports. “So much drugs are seized that criminals are taking it on each other,” the mayor said last month.
Shootings also took place in the city last night: according to the police, shots were fired at a car wash on Stadionweg. According to Rijnmond, gunshot holes were found in the wall of the car wash. Shots were also fired at Koninginneweg, police wrote on Twitter. No one was injured in either shooting.
