María Andrea Espitia is co-founder of ‘Muy bacano’, a venture that was born in 2020, when her brother and partner finished university. “I was not very clear about what to do, if I wanted to start or enter the corporate world,” she told Noticias RCN.
At that time, María’s brother had the idea of selling a cell phone through one of the e-commerce platforms. This transaction opened their eyes to what would become her venture.
“We identified a pain in the market and saw that there was no marketplace 100% Colombian and digital that will speak to Colombians in a friendly way to solve frictions”, mentioned María Andrea.
That is how she and her brother began to talk with different strategic allies to find a way for Colombians to buy online without having to be tied to banks. “We have a payment system that allows Colombians to buy with just the ID number and following some verification steps; Thus, in less than six minutes, the purchase is already completed”, Andrea mentioned.

How does ‘Very cool’ work?
‘Very cool’ is the application that allows users to make purchases without having a credit card and that, in less than three days, the product reaches their hands regardless of the region in which they are. “It is not a stiff platform or difficult to use, on the contrary, it is a safe place to buy cool stuff,” Espitia said.
“Undertaking for us has been an enriching path, we have had setbacks and difficulties, because the path of entrepreneurship is not all rosy.
