Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court has sought a response on the allotment of a separate room for offering prayers in the state legislative assembly. The court verbally asked the legislative assembly on what basis this arrangement has been made. A bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra heard a petition on this matter on Tuesday
A petition filed by Ajay Kumar Modi stated that a room was allotted in 2021 for Muslims to offer prayers in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly building. An order was officially issued by the Assembly Secretariat for this. He claimed that this arrangement is against the constitution and system. Advocate Naveen Kumar appeared on behalf of the petitioner.
The High Court had already issued a notice in this matter. The last chance to file a reply has been given to the Legislative Assembly during the hearing on Tuesday. The court has fixed the date of May 18 for the next hearing of this matter
