Let’s be fair! No one could have guessed that the 49-euro ticket would start on May 1st. Especially not that tens of thousands of people want to buy it. The servers of Deutsche Bahn had to go to their knees under the completely surprising onslaught of people wanting to book. No, nobody could really do that… Stop!
Irony aside. None of this came as a surprise. On the contrary, it is a tragedy that the Bahn servers were so overloaded at the start on Monday that many customers were put off for hours with the message “At the moment too many users are accessing our booking system at the same time”. The run by prospective buyers for the new Deutschlandticket was so great that it was not possible to reliably buy regular tickets for hours either online or via the Bahn app.
