The Head of State receives the British Ambassador and a delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Niger

The President of the Republic Mohamed Bazoum met, yesterday Wednesday May 3, 2023 in the afternoon, with the Ambassador of Great Britain in Niger, HE. Catherine Inglehearn. At the end of this audience, the British diplomat said that she had come to discuss with the Head of State on his next trip to London to attend the enthronement of the new King Charles III, which will take place on May 6. The question of bilateral cooperation between the two countries was also raised during these exchanges. “During this next visit, President Mohamed Bazoum will have the opportunity to exchange in more depth with the British Minister for Africa and a round table will be organized with heads of British companies and financing institutions for the development in order to promote and encourage economic cooperation between the United Kingdom and Niger”, announced SE. Earlier in the morning, the President of the Republic granted an audience to the regional Consular who are in Niamey within the framework of the General Assembly of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Niger (CCIN). When they left the hearing, the President of the CCIN, Mr. Moussa Sidi Mohamed confided that they had come to pay a courtesy visit to the Head of State. This opportunity was taken advantage of to discuss with the President of the Republic a certain number of problems which are undermining the private sector in Niger. Discussions also focused on the efforts made since SE’s arrival. Mohamed Bazoum in power, particularly on tax issues, issues of hotels, industry, construction and financing of the economy.

According to the President of the CCIN, the Head of State promised to continue discussions with economic operators so that appropriate measures are taken to strengthen the private sector in Niger and, at the same time, asked the economic operators to modernize and invest in all sectors. “We heard a totally positive message which was in favor of supporting the private sector. It is enough just to take the necessary measures to support and stimulate the said sector which is today an engine of development”, rejoiced the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Niger, Mr. Moussa Sidi Mohamed.
