Former Minister of Science and Technology Park Ho-gun (76) was appointed as the head of the Incheon Research Institute.

The city of Incheon announced that it had appointed Director Park on the 4th after going through the director invitation notice process in April, recommendation by the Director Candidate Review Committee and the resolution of the Board of Directors. Park’s term of office is three years until May 2026.

Director Park, who graduated from Jemulpo High School with Incheon Mayor Yoo Jung-bok, graduated from Seoul National University with a chemistry department, and obtained a master’s degree from the University of Illinois and a doctorate from Ohio State University. Since then, he has served as the President of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, the Minister of Science and Technology, and the President of Incheon University.

Director Park said, “We will establish a productive and constructive communication channel with the local community as well as Incheon City to communicate and cooperate to make Incheon Research Institute a leap forward as a representative research institute in Korea.”
