Oleg Germanovich made three space flights with a total length of stay in space 560 days 18 hours 06 minutes. During the flights, he worked in open space eight times, in total he spent more than 56 hours “overboard”.

One of the goals of the cosmonaut’s trip was to participate in the holding of a master class of children’s drawing “Glorious pages of the history of the Russian Fatherland” on the territory of the memorial complex “Brest Hero-Fortress”. Andrey Sidorov, co-chairman of the Union Competition Jury, said that based on the results of the master class, the best works will be selected for organizing a special exposition on board the International Space Station.

Oleg Germanovich himself, in a conversation with a Vecherka journalist, said that he had sent similar drawings to the ISS more than once. Naturally, the cosmonaut and his friends had one more goal – to pay tribute to the memory of the defenders of the legendary fortress. In response to the journalist’s questions, the Hero of Russia touched on this topic: “After Brest, we will go to Vitebsk, where my mother and father live (he is a retired officer), sister, nephew. The family honors the memory of the Victory. On May 8, we will celebrate the birthday of our father and we will definitely remember the heroes of the war. The fact that it was mined by representatives of all the peoples of the USSR.

By the way, during the third flight, Oleg Artemiev and flight engineer Denis Matveev, during a spacewalk on April 28, 2022, on the eve of Victory Day, placed a copy of the Victory Banner in the Great Patriotic War on the ISS Nauka multipurpose laboratory module.
