Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar emphasizes resolving Panaji-East Ladakh border issue in talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang at SCO conference in Goa

Our Foreign Minister Jaishankar emphasized to the Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang about the importance of resolving the issue in the Panaji-East Ladakh border area.

The conference in which the ministers of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, known as SCO, are participating is going on in various cities of our country.

India, Russia, China, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are members of this organization.

A meeting of the Defense Ministers of this organization was held in New Delhi recently. In this case, the consultative meeting in which the foreign ministers will participate is being held at Benalim near Panaji in Goa.

As part of this, our Foreign Minister Jaishankar held a consultation with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang yesterday.

Regarding this, Jaishankar mentioned on the social networking site:

A detailed consultation was held with the Chinese Minister regarding bilateral relations. At that time, he was stressed on the need to find an amicable solution to the problem in the eastern Ladakh border area.

Talks were also held with him about the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the ‘G-20’ conference.

He mentioned thus.

The Chinese side continues to claim that ‘the situation at the border is under control’ amid ongoing tension in the Chinese border area.

However, when our Foreign Minister Jaishankar met the Chinese Foreign Minister last March, he said, ‘It is true that there is an extraordinary situation on the border’.

Recently, when our Defense Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to the Chinese Defense Minister, he said, ‘The problem continues in the Chinese border area. It is to be noted that this issue should be resolved according to the previous agreements reached between the two sides.

Meanwhile, Jaishankar held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov yesterday about bilateral relations.
