The addition of blinatumomab to chemotherapy has been shown to be safe and effective in a phase II study in infants with aggressive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The results have now been published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine published.

In the past, it has proven particularly difficult to treat infants with ALL. Disease-free survival rates and overall survival rates were much lower than in older children. A combination therapy with the CD19 antibody blinatumomab now gives new hope.
