Madrid: India’s Kidambi Srikanth won silver at the World Badminton Championships. In the final, the Singaporean player lost to Lo Ken Yu. With this, Srikanth’s achievement was limited to silver.
The Indian lost to a straight set. The score was 15-21, 22-20. Srikanth went backwards after leading first in both the sets.

Srikanth holds the record for most wins by an Indian in the men’s singles at the World Badminton Championships. This is the first time an Indian male player has reached the World Championship final.

Earlier, India had won three bronze medals at the World Championships, including three by HS Pronoy. Prakash Padukone in 1983, HS Pranoy in 2019 and Lakshya Sen in 2021 were the previous medalists for India in men’s singles.
