EXCLUSIVE RANKING – We compared data from hundreds of neighborhoods to understand which had the most socio-economic difficulties.

“Great ensembles”, “sensitive cities”, “popular districts”. Words vary but one reality remains: these urban areas most often built in the 1950s and 1960s – plagued by poverty and unemployment, are today the focus of many ills. Some neighborhoods in the city’s policy (QPV, the state system that identifies the areas most in difficulty) are more deeply affected than others. We compared 800 sensitive housing estates in France on the basis of socio-economic criteria (endemic unemployment, poverty, young dropouts, population without qualifications, job insecurity, recourse to social assistance, etc.). Contrary to popular belief, the districts of large metropolises are not always the most in difficulty. Medium-sized provincial towns, sometimes rural, are just as affected by poverty. Consult the data everywhere in France.
