By May 10, it is expected that the DFZ electronic services system will be operational so that farmers can outline, Yavor Gechev told the National Assembly of Sheep Breeders

The Ministry of Agriculture and branch organizations will implement a “Respect for Bulgarian farmers” campaign. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture Yavor Gechev during the opening of the XI National Assembly of Sheep and Goat Breeders near the Peter and Paul Monastery, in which the responsible deputy minister Assoc. Krum Nedelkov also participated.

The Minister of Agriculture welcomed the guests and participants in the event and noted that this assembly has established itself over the years as an emblem of the Bulgarian tradition.

“Bulgarian products carry the traditions, the spirit of Bulgaria and the taste of the hard-working hands of the farmers,” said Yavor Gechev and urged the guests of the event to support Bulgarian farmers and look for their products on the market. “I guarantee you that Bulgarian farmers offer the best quality foods that can be bought in our country,” he added.

Minister Gechev announced to the media that work is underway to amend the Law on the Ownership and Use of Agricultural Lands, which will introduce the so-called agrophotovoltaics. He specified that this aims to preserve the pastures and provide the opportunity to install photovoltaics, as the leading priority will be the preservation of the agricultural status of the land. Anticipated if any photovoltaics they should be at 50% of the land area and at a height of 3 meters.

Regarding the meeting held yesterday with the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Yavor Gechev stated that work will be done on a general declaration on mechanisms for impact in the event of market disturbances. “We reached an agreement to create different options together to improve the so-called corridors, taking them out of both the EU and Bulgaria,” explained the minister. According to him, there is also an idea to create guarantee funds that will be used as a tool for the trade of cereals with third countries. “Import restrictions are not enough, mechanisms are needed to regulate the market situation,” the minister emphasized.

Regarding the EC’s proposal for the second package of aid for farmers and about 10 million euros intended for Bulgaria, he pointed out that our country has already expressed a position that they are insufficient. “We requested information from the Commission about the methods and ways in which the proportionality of the funds was calculated,” informed Minister Gechev. He also specified that information on the inclusion of honey and dry milk in the list of prohibited goods for import is expected by June 5. And he said that for dry milk, increased import quantities are reported and the growth continues, and the purchase price of raw milk has decreased by 30% in two months.

“By May 10th, it is expected that the SEU system will start working and farmers will be able to outline”, announced Minister Gechev.
