• The boss of the Russian paramilitary group Wagner, Yevgueni Prigojine, threatened on Friday May 5 to withdraw his troops from the city of Bakhmout next week, epicenter of fighting in eastern Ukraine. He accuses the Russian general staff of depriving him of ammunition. Later that day, he demanded that Moscow cede its positions to Kadyrov’s Chechen troops.
• Asked by the press about these tensions, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov replied having “seen the statements” from the head of Wagner but declined to comment on them. For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense mentioned laconically the « offensives » Wagner’s men in Bakhmout, “supported” par “airborne units” of the regular army.

• The Senate site was blocked Friday for several hours by pro-Russian hackers. The pro-Russian collective NoName claimed responsibility for the attack on his Telegram channel at 10:23 a.m., with a message in Russian and English criticizing France’s support for Ukraine.
