Modify the previous layout to make it compatible with freight train circulation
The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has provisionally approved the ‘Complementary informative study of the remodeling project of the Alicante Railway Arterial Network. Variante de Torrellano’ and begins, with the corresponding announcement in the Official State Gazette, the process of public information and audience with the administrations.

The Torrellano bypass is included in the Alicante arterial rail network remodeling project and consists of two phases.
Phase I, currently in the project phase, is conceived by means of a station to provide service in advance to the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández airport. It starts at the Torrellano station and, after running under the airport terminal, it connects provisionally with the existing line in the vicinity of the Agua Amarga industrial estate.
Phase II, the subject of the informative study from which public information begins, gives continuity to phase I, connecting with the Alacant Terminal station.

The object of this complementary informative study consists of the modification of the previous route, approved in 2006, to make it compatible with the circulation of merchandise trains.
The action, which is defined in standard track gauge, will make it possible to eliminate the existing inversion of gear at Sant Gabriel station and raise the tracks that run along the seafront.
