“We are supplied with both essential and vital drugs for the treatment of the various pathologies of our patients. The percentage of supply is increasing, according to the receipt of medicines and medical devices,” said Ana Carrión, head of the hospital’s Pharmacy service.

So far this year, the hospital has invested 13 million dollars, through 523 processes for the acquisition of medicines and medical devices, divided into: two special regime processes, one electronic catalogue, 400 small amounts and 120 auctions. reverse.

The supply is given through some strategies: acquisition, through programs (HIV, tuberculosis and catastrophic diseases), with the support of the Zonal Coordination 6 – Health and the National Directorate of Medicines and Medical Devices; Own purchase with a budget granted to the hospital, and through an electronic catalogue.

“I came to the appointment with the pulmonologist and he prescribed me some medications for my treatment. I went to the pharmacy and they gave me the entire prescription,” said Norma Salazar, a hospital patient.

The pharmacy dispenses an average of 1,200 daily prescriptions for the different care areas: external consultation, emergency and hospitalization, through qualified personnel who work 24/7 on rotating schedules.
