Juan Carlos Moreno, one of the creators of the historic folkloric group Los Fronterizos, died yesterday. The musician and composer knew how to bring folklore melodies together with the group from 1953 to 1987.

Juan Carlos Moreno was 91 years old. He was born in the province of Jujuy on June 19, 1931. His childhood was spent on the farm of his uncles, called “La Candelaria” and immortalized in Eduardo Falú’s zamba with the same title. Later, the family lived in San Pedro de Colalao (Tucumán) and in Perico (Jujuy), to later return to Salta.

First of all, he was part of the group “20 Guitarras de Salta”, directed by Payo Solá. But he also worked for some time in Airlines, was a salesman and bank employee. But without a doubt, his facet as a musician, singer, composer, was displayed when he formed the folk group Los Fronterizos in 1953. Among his works, the following stand out: I long for my beautiful Salta – When I go to Salta (with Wilfred Pantaleon) – When I go to Mendoza – Friendship is true (with Clemente Puppel) – My soul in Tucumán – My loving Jujeñita – I want to take you a flower – I love you well my lady (with Carlos Montaño), among others.
