DIG/ The Managing Director of Zis de Nkok, Anne NKENE and the Gabon Country Director of Arise IIP & Arise IS, Igor SIMARD, proceeded, on May 3, 2023, to the inauguration of the offices of SAFER, a cell EHS advisory (Environment, health and safety) specially dedicated to professionals working within the Special Investment Zone of Nkok.

The installation of the SAFER service is part of the political will of the highest authorities of the GSEZ of Nkok to ensure that all workplaces in accordance with international standards are healthy and safe for all: employees, partners, and visitors.

Thus, Safer will provide companies located in the GSEZ with many key services:

– Carrying out EHS audits of facilities;

– the organization of SSE awareness sessions;

– assistance in understanding legal requirements;

– the organization of personalized sessions on the environment, health and safety;

– drawing up an emergency response plan;

– investigation of incidents and formulation of recommendations;

– the establishment of an internal governance framework;

– the provision of a centralized supply of PPE.

“You must first know that the Special Economic Zone of Nkok brings together all the administrations that accompany them on a daily basis. They are grouped around the Administrative Authority which plays the role of power to ensure compliance with the provisions regarding safety, health, environment and hygiene within this economic area. We are progressing quite well in terms of awareness, control and with regard to the whole part of the sanctions.

Today GSEZ has just further strengthened its systems which will allow the operators of this economic space to be able to align themselves more with these requirements which are environmental, social requirements, and with regard to hygiene and safety at work. So Safer is really an additional tool, for operators to be more compliant, since they already do it for the most part. “said Anne Nkene.

For Igor SIMA, Country Director Arise, IIP and IS: “The Safer tool will strengthen the support of the systems already present in the Nkok area, on hygiene, health and safety issues. Today, the Nkok area is growing with more and more companies for the creation of more and more jobs. So it was our duty to reinforce and accompany the question of the duty of work, but also the questions of health and safety.

Concretely, this will work on the basis of audits with the various economic operators established in the area, which will make it possible to measure the discrepancies observed. All this will be done in collaboration with the services present in the Nkok area, naturally in the first place, the Administrative Authority of the Nkok area, the CNSS, the CNAMGS and this, with the clear objective of respecting all levels, the traditional system, then the standards and regulations. »
