Given this, the Mexican government spoke on May 9, 2023 during the morning presidential conference, where Undersecretary Hugo López Gatell pointed out important points regarding the WHO decision:

- About 95% of Mexicans have antibodies and immune capacity to combat existing Covid variants
- Covid went from being a pandemic to being endemic, that is, it will coexist with the population without major risks

In turn, the undersecretary pointed out that there are advances in the treatment of infected people, since now there is more information to make correct decisions that guarantee that infected people survive the virus.
In this sense, he pointed out that now there is more clarity to know who should be intubated and what type of medication will be most effective for each case.
Finally, despite López Gatell reporting that Mexico declares the end of the Covid 19 pandemicmentioned that the Covid 19 vaccine will be added to the general vaccination plan but that there are no details about it yet.
