The concern with religious freedom inside and outside Brazil has fueled the debate between leaders from the most diverse angles, such as Pastor Altair Germano, considered one of the main exponents of the Assembly of God Church. In a recent publication, for example, he pointed out how this reality is linked to the political left.

Citing an excerpt from a work by the conservative philosopher Roger Scruton, where he talks about “fools, frauds and militant thinkers of the new left”, the religious leader began his text by showing how the free debate of ideas has been replaced by the imposition of authoritarianism.

In Scruton’s words referring to the new left, “such a person does not seek to negotiate with existing structures, but rather to gain total power in order to abolish the structures themselves. It will be against all forms of mediation, compromise and debate, and against the legal and moral norms that give voice to dissent and sovereignty to ordinary people.”

For Germano, with left-wing governments in power, the resentment provoked by the Church’s opposition to his agendas will make Christians end up suffering in “totalitarian hands”, so that the true Christian, biblical worldview is suppressed and eliminated from the debate. public.

liberal theologians

Pastor Altair Germano points out that part of this process will take place with the support of liberal theologians, since they give up the pillars of faith, replacing them with ideological causes that distort biblical teaching, all in the name of a “common religion” and super “inclusive”.

“In this totalitarian and globalizing process that is heading towards the apocalyptic imposition of a single pluralist world religion”, says Germano, “liberal and progressive theologies collaborate, promoting with their religious arguments the false idea that all forms of oppression it is a capitalist structural problem, and not a direct consequence of sin.”

“Evangelization, in these theologies, gives rise to new forms of class struggle (or of groups, races, etc.) and post-Marxist and Gramscist revolutions (Culture War, indoctrination in schools and colleges, etc.), where the Bible needs be ‘rewritten’ or ‘reinterpreted’”, completes the pastor.

On another occasion, Altair Germano had already listed seven characteristics normally presented by theologians defending the totalitarian left, namely:

“1. ecumenism
2. Liberation theology
3. The theology of integral mission
4. Feminist theology
5. Inclusive (or LGBT+) theology
6. Black theology
7. Socialist ideology (Marxist and post-Marxist)”

In his most recent post, the assembly leader concludes by making an appeal to the Church, saying that leaders need to rise up to promote the awareness of Christians regarding the challenges of the new times, especially with regard to the advance of the totalitarian hands of leftist governments.

“It is time for pastors and leaders to promote discussion and broad exposition of the facts exposed here, and in all possible instances”, it says the pastor. See too:
